Top 5 Outcomes

One of the exercises I love to do for myself and with my clients is looking at the top five outcomes you want in your life.

Maybe it’s to lose weight and maintain it for the rest of your life; be a great mother or father to your kids leading by example; have an amazing relationship with your spouse; have a close relationship with your family, and siblings; be in great shape and physically active; write a book; express your creativity in a certain way; build a business you want, etc.

What are those for you?

Then look at what you did and how you spent your time yesterday.

How much of that time was spent on things getting you closer to the outcomes you want?

Often we say we want those things but don’t put in the time and effort to create them and choose to do different things instead.

We hope that one day those things will just happen, rather than committing to taking concrete steps, deciding on priorities, honoring them, and finding ways to do it rather than looking for excuses.

Sometimes the answer is small steps taken consistently.

Sometimes it’s finding a way that makes doing something that matters more fun.

Sometimes it’s being creative in finding a solution to honor that commitment rather than giving up on it.

Sometimes it’s just choosing more consciously.
